FAQs

LifeLight911 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q. Is it legal to operate a LifeLight911 emergency signal on a car?

    A. The LifeLight911 is a written signal for help and is protected by the First Amendment in the USA. You should not be ticketed or receive violations for using a LifeLight911.

  • Q. What if a law officer says the flashing lights on my LifeLight911 are illegal and gives me a ticket?

    A. Please see the answer to the above question.

  • Q. Will my LifeLight911 emergency signal look like the one on the website?

    A. No, the visual representation of the LifeLight911 featured on this website is a prototype. The final retail version will be slimmer with increased visual appeal.

  • Q. How does my LifeLight911 turn on and off?

    A. LifeLight911 is operated by a wireless key fob or the companion mobile app.

  • Q. Why haven’t car manufacturers come up with this simple idea for safety?

    A. Car manufacturers have focused on what happens during a crash, not after. Historically, it has taken decades for the auto industry to adopt safety measures. Consumers deserve vehicle safety that is reliable, intuitive, and inclusive to the environment around us. You will know that car manufacturers are taking your safety into account when they start to incorporate adaptive devices such as the LifeLight911.

  • Q. How far away can the LifeLight911 emergency signal be activated?

    A. The LifeLight911 emergency signal can be activated about a quarter-mile away within line of sight.

  • Q. Will there be a choice of frame colors for my LifeLight911?

    A. Yes! For the first run, the LifeLight911 emergency signal will come in a choice of black or chrome. More colors will follow and supporters will get terrific discounts.

  • Q. If I select a support tier with more than one LifeLight911 emergency signal, can I get multiple votes?

    A. While LifeLight911 appreciates all contributions towards our efforts, we want to make sure that all of our supporters are given an equal voice, which means additional contributions will still be counted as only one vote.

  • Q. Should I mount my LifeLight911 on the front bumper?

    A. If you only have one LifeLight911 emergency signal, we recommend mounting it on the back bumper because every state requires a back license plate. However, LifeLight911 emergency signals on both the front and back bumpers means 100% coverage. Remember, these get turned on when you want the world to know you need help.

  • Q. My state doesn’t require a license plate on the front bumper, so my car doesn’t have anyway to mount it. How can I mount a LifeLight911 on the front bumper?

    A. Local car dealers, auto parts stores, the internet, or a professional installer will easily be able to order a license plate backing mount for your vehicle's front bumper. Mounting a LifeLight911 emergency signal on the front of your vehicle will double your chances for good Samaritan help.

  • Q. Does my LifeLight911 need to be professionally installed?

    A. For the utmost in safety and reliability, only a certified professional should install your LifeLight911. There are all kinds of inferior techniques that will cause activation problems, short circuits, or car fires if done incorrectly, especially if not weather proofed. It’s smart to have it done right the first time. Be sure to save any receipt you get from a professional install so you can have them redo it if need be.

  • Q. Where can I find a professional to install my LifeLight911?

    A. Please look in the “Installation” section of our website for referrals and/or named certificated professionals. There are approximately 740,000 certified automotive installers in the USA and about 35,000 licensed businesses that can perform installations. You’ll find most working in Auto Mobile Electronics stores (radio/entertainment shop) or car dealerships, but there are others that will even come to your house - just be sure to get references. We of course want to know of your positive and/or negative experience with installers, especially if they do a great job.

  • Q. If I lose my LifeLight911 remote, how can I get a replacement?

    A. If you lose your LifeLight911 remote, please contact us at warranty@LifeLight911.com. Since your LifeLight911 is registered to you as well as your phone, you will be able to quickly receive a replacement remote. There will be a small replacement fee.

  • Q. Will the LifeLight911 fit on any car?

    A. Almost. If a license plate can be mounted, then in most cases the LifeLight911 should fit it. There are some cars designed to not have a license plate frame - they only have recessed areas and/or panels that actually fit over the license plate - the De Lorean for example. For these cars and any others that encroach on the perimeter of a plate, LifeLight911 will have a special frame that can be easily customized for unusual mounting situations. Please let us know the year, make, and model of your vehicle if you have a car that won’t accept a standard license plate frame.

  • Q. I drive an 18 wheeler. How do I mount a LifeLight911 at the back of the last trailer without running a wire the whole distance?

    A. LifeLight911 has a model that runs on battery power and can be hung just about anywhere...but because of its ease of use, anyone at any stop would be able to steal it if they want it badly enough. If it is stolen though, it would be unusable if the thief didn’t steal the wireless remote as well. Of course batteries will have to be changed since it will always be “on” listening for the remote.

  • Q. What warranty does the LifeLight911 have?

    A. It’s a Lifetime warranty for any kind of functionality and/or quality defect of the LifeLight Emergency Signal and/or frame.

  • Q. Are there any warranty exclusions on my LifeLight911?

    A. Yes. We trust our design and quality control with our lives, but, since LifeLight911 has no control over the actual installation, there are many problems that can affect activation if done incorrectly. It’s smart and cost effective to have it done by a professional.

  • Q. How do I get a replacement LifeLight911 under the warranty?

    A. Contact us at warranty@LifeLight911.com and we’ll send you a shipping box and label to send back your LifeLight911, so it won’t cost you a dime.

  • Q. How does the LifeLight911 charity donation work?

    A. If an organization is a registered charity/501(c)(3), they can sign up with LifeLight911 and we'll give them a donation of 20% of our profit for every unit bought through their name. FOREVER! If, however, the purchaser wants to split our donation between more than one 501(c)(3), they just have to let LifeLight911 know. The emergency signal will be shipped to the purchaser, and the money will be transferred to the 501(c)(3)s with the purchaser’s name as the initiator.

  • Q. What if I change my mind and want my money back after I’ve designated a LifeLight911 charity donation?

    A. If LifeLight911 has already sent a check to the designated 501(c)(3) and you change your mind and ask for a refund, after you send the  unit back to us we will only be able to return the amount we received out of the contracted purchase price. If you want the portion that the 501(c)(3) got, you will have to make a request directly from them.

  • Q. How can I get my name into LifeLight911's Hall Of Fame?

    A. Sorry, only LifeLight911's original crowdfunding supporters will have their name in the Hall Of Fame. If not for their values, foresight, and presence of mind to send in at least ten dollars to get this life saving product up and running, there won’t be a LifeLight911 at the cost of many, many lives!

  • Q. How do I get into the “Heroes” section on the LifeLight911 website?

    A. LifeLight911 will work hard to verify every activation, news article, police report, 911 call, phone record, video, or photographic evidence of a rescue or involvement in a rescue. Every LifeLight911 activation should be accompanied with multiple phone calls to 911. Everyone involved should be listed! If you would like your name or story included, LifeLight911 will use your phone record or other criteria to verify your involvement.

  • Q. How will upgrades to the LifeLight911 be managed over the lifetime of the product?

    A. Benefits to contributors to LifeLight911 include information on updates and upgrades as well as discounts commensurate with the pledged rewards tier. Non-contributing members of the LifeLight911 family can go to LifeLight911.com to see current updates and upgrades as well as pricing.
